TAM CERT Delivers the Worlds First EuroPrivacy GDPR Certificate to PwC, Begins Certification Process for Allianz Members

TAM CERT Ltd has delivered the worlds first officially registered European Data Protection Seal under GDPR, recognized by all EU and EEA Member States. The EuroPrivacy certificate was awarded to PwC Luxembourg during a ceremony at the Privacy Symposium Conference in Venice, where TAM CERTs next major commission was also made public.

The European Data Protection Seal, issued under Article 43 of the GDPR, is officially recognized by 30 countries, including all EU and EEA member states and their respective national supervisory authorities. TAM CERT Hungary is the first and currently the only accredited Certification Body in the EU for GDPR certification, recognized by all EU and EEA member states.

“We were approached by PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Luxembourg office to certify one of the organization’s data management activities. After signing the contract, the certification process was carried out according to the specified procedures, including validations and approvals, and concluded by a positive certification decision.

The certificate was handed over during a ceremony at the annual Privacy Symposium conference at the University of Foscari, Venice,” summarized Tibor Kiss, manager at TAM CERT.

The annual Venice Privacy Symposium is one of the largest in the world. This year, it hosted 400 speakers across four venues, from Monday to Friday, with professional stakeholders attending from all over the globe.

The heads of PwC’s Luxembourg data protection authority were also in attendance, along with members of several organizations representing relevant authorities and professional bodies.

“This renowned symposium presented us with a great opportunity to officially announce that the first EuroPrivacy GDPR certification has been issued. The ceremony on Friday, June 14th, was attended by Cedric Nedelec, PwC’s Data Protection Officer, who flew in from Spain to accept the certificate.

Other attendees included Sébastien Ziegler, President of EuroPrivacy, and Dr. Zoltán Temesi, head of the audit team and lead auditor in the certification process. This was a unique and memorable event,” Kiss added.

Allianz Member Organizations Also Certified by TAM CERT

The symposium also featured a round table discussion on certification experiences, with representatives of the German insurance giant Allianz in attendance. Here, they announced the start of a complex GDPR certification process for three large member companies of Allianz, which will also be carried out by TAM CERT Hungary.

Given that Allianz is one of the largest insurance companies in the world, TAM CERT is facing a monumental series of certifications: a total of 54 data management processes will be certified in parallel for the Italian, German, and Austrian member organizations.

“Fortunately, Allianz has placed its trust in our small company, TAM CERT, by entrusting us with this highly concentrated, complex, and challenging task. This demonstrates that TAM CERT is prepared to carry out certification activities for major organizations throughout the EU, but we also welcome applications from companies in third countries,” Kiss added.

The European Data Protection Seal is recognized by 30 countries, including all EU and EEA member states and their respective national supervisory authorities. EuroPrivacy is supported by a global ecosystem of partners, including the largest law firms, consulting firms, certification bodies, and solution providers.
